Posted by PattonPUzU7SLu on September 4, 2014 at 4:09 PM Comments comments (0)
Before you have a glance at the used cars in ontario dealership offers and and a dealer visit, have your vehicle fund willing to save time budgeting for the car. By browsing through guides offering a summary of the value of used cars revise yourself with the current automobile costs. By choosing a car or truck that's less than 3 years old using an annual mileage between 35 and 25,000,000 narrow your options.

Verify the motor plate to the automobile while you examine usedcars. Make certain using what is granted about the registration documents that the menu corresponds. Continue a try out to see whether it's in good shape and it's also not uncomfortable for you personally.

The car's bodywork is determines used cars' quality. The used cars in Oakville dealership offers are well - . Often check each auto to identify any indication of damages' bodywork. Examine the very best and raise of top wings, below front bumpers, and the base door for decay. Make sure there are no damages normally you might have to cover costly repairs.

While seeking in the auto, verify the odometer to see perhaps the figures are out of line. Which means that the mileage has changed when the figures are out of line. The distance has to match with the common condition of the automobile. As an example, a worn bumper scuff repair Bishop Auckland brake pedal indicates the auto did more than 60,000 miles. Even high mileage is meant by a used driver's seat. To the other hand, a low-mileage may imply that car used for short travels or has been left abandoned for a lengthy period of time. Hence, realizing the usage of the car can help you avoid motor troubles. Get yourself a usedcar that maintained and has been routinely used.

Therefore it is very important to examine their state of the engine, similar to the bodywork, the engine defines the effectiveness of the automobile. A motor that is dirty ensures that the vehicle has not been properly -managed; it's an indicator of neglect. Nevertheless, a clear engine could be misleading. Though it's not dirty, the motor may have other problems like oil leaks. Before you start the engine, remove the dipstick and check the color of the oil. Then a car hasn't been managed if it is not white. The gas light must flash, while you turn on the motor. If does not, then a engine might presently be worn down.

Inspecting the vehicle can be an essential step in the buying process. Check always rooms, the bodywork, as well as the engine.

Horse Stalls Guide Exploring Stall and Horse Barn Ideas

Posted by PattonPUzU7SLu on May 16, 2014 at 2:53 AM Comments comments (0)

Horse stalls and horse barns are all part of owning horses. Horses are not only a very personable animal, they are also very costly. So having the appropriate facilities for them in important. Someone once said, "Give me a horse and sell the car, they both cost about the same but at least my horse appreciates me". The bond between horse and human can be so strong at times that some famous actors even contemplated retirement when their horse passed away.

Probably two of the most popular horses in Americana are Trigger and Mister Ed. Roy Rodgers did in fact own Trigger. He purchased him from the stable that supplied him to the studio without the studio's knowledge. For a vast sum of I believe it was $4,500, when Roy Rodgers was making about $100 a week, he obtained ownership of the stallion. Several years later, after the death of his first wife, he even proposed to Dale Evans from the back of his horse. Mister Ed, also a famous Palomino, was very instrumental in taking Allen Young (lead star Wilber Post) from a down time in his performing career back into the lime light once again. Allen Young even considered retirement from show business once Ed passed away just because he had been so attached to this special horse.

When I was reading the autobiography of Allen Young I thought it was really interesting that Mister Ed considered his stall his little domain. On the set, if he had to go, he would simply walk back to his stall and take care of business. Imagine a house broken horse.

Anyway, back to horse stalls and their importance. The main styles of horse barns are shed row, pole barns, and bank barns. A good size for horse stalls is the 12x12 foot construction. Stall doors need to be an average of six feet wide to prevent the horse running into the door or frame as they walk through. The wider doorway also protects people from getting trapped against the horse if one pulls them through the door way.

Barn aisles, typically found in pole barns and bank barns, are the clear paths through the center of the barn. Aisles need to be an average of at least 12 feet wide. Adding a few feet and allowing 16 feet or more is even better. If a barn has a wide aisle and high overhead clearance young horses can be broken and ridden in the aisle way. Another use for wide aisles is letting small children loose on ponies or horses. Having a confined area allows the child some freedom and also a chance to learn some control and steering in a smaller grass free environment.

Shed row barns have the stalls lined up, each house clearance northlondon opening to the outside typically with Dutch doors. These barns can have a single roof slope and do not usually have aisles built into them.

Bank barns are ones which are dug into a hillside. Many of the horse bank barns are actually converted cow or dairy barns. Bank barns are very cool, more expensive to construct, but very functional for horses if the ceilings are high enough.

Horse stall partitions should be at least eight feet high. This prevents horses from reaching one another over the walls. One horse owner wash brushing her horse in the stall and the horse in the next stall lunged over the wall at the first horse. Missing the horse being groomed, the aggressor instead sunk his teeth into the back of the owner. So having a higher stall wall between is safer.

Many times barns are not built with a high enough clearance. The horse's natural reaction to being startled is to rear up. So having a 12 foot high barn ceiling or even 16 feet makes it safer. The higher clearance also allows for hay wagons, tractors, and people to ride inside the barn.

The higher door clearance on the stalls themselves is also a good idea. Many times the rollers for the stall doors are mounted even with the top of the walls. This gives an eight foot high door way when the ceiling of the barn is twelve feet or better. The potential danger is that a rider will try to ride into the stall and not see the over head door lintel. It is best to extend the lumber on the stall door and mount the rollers as high as possible in relation to the roof.

Horse stall mats are another issue to consider. I have seen horse stalls lined with everything from just dirt raked smooth, to cement covered with stall mats, wood covered with mats, and even railroad ties with sand between the ties. It is not a good idea to leave sand as the top layer of the stall floor. Horses are constantly nibbling off of the floor. The sand then becomes ingested and the horse can then colic. Sand colic is very common in coastal areas or where ever the soil has a high concentration of sand. Mats are a good idea. They reduce the amount of bedding needed. Matting also relieves pressure on joints and bones. Standing directly on cement is about the worst for the horses.

Miniture HorsesAutomatic horse water is another nice enhancement to a stall, but not necessary. Hanging buckets with double ended snaps from rings mounted on the wall does work well. When choosing automatic water options many times one unit can be set between two stalls. This allows two horses to have access to the same water. It is wise to have at least one stall that does not have a shared waterer. That way if a new horse is brought into the stable, then it can be quarantined for a short time. Shared water can spread colds, strangles, and other horse diseases, but this is not a problem when the horses stay at the barn and do not travel a lot. If you have a horse that is constantly going to shows, trail rides, or other functions where it comes into contact with other horses, it is a good idea to not let that horse be turned out or share water with others during the months it is traveling.

Whenever your turn comes to build a horse barn, no matter what style you choose, be sure to still pay attention to parameters that are applicable to all barns. Horse stall size, partition height, door width, horse stall matting, and automatic waters are all things that go into every horse stall no matter what type of barn in which it is located. Safe horse stalls are one very important aspect of caring for our equine friends.

Get City Dealz, SEO-PR, and Business Wire Win U.S. Search Award

Posted by PattonPUzU7SLu on May 15, 2014 at 9:06 PM Comments comments (43)

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The inaugural U.S. Search Awards were announced during PubCon Las Vegas 2013 last night and Get City Dealz, SEO-PR, and Business Wire won the award for the Best Use of PR in a Search Campaign for their test of multimedia press releases. Holly Firfer, an Emmy nominated correspondent and anchor for CNN, who was the MC for the U.S. Search Awards, said, "This entry was very highly rated by judges who felt that it was a very worthy winner of this category and wanted to reward this solid campaign with impressive metrics and accurate attribution."

Relatively few optimized press releases also include multimedia. The reason is obvious: The costs of creating, optimizing, and distributing multimedia press releases are relatively higher than regular press releases, but the benefits are unknown.

So, in February 2013, Get City Dealz, a technology company in New Orleans that specializes in assisting merchants in promoting their businesses on its deal platform, SEO-PR, the content marketing agency that pioneered press release SEO, and Business Wire, the global leader in press release distribution, conducted a test to find out if including a video or photo in a press release generated better results than a press release which didn't include multimedia.

Get City Dealz created three similar press releases. Each one featured a different local merchant that offered a daily deal or local bargain in New Orleans on the recently launched Get City Dealz platform. Each of the press releases was distributed via Business Wire at 6:30 a.m. on successive Saturday mornings in February.

The first release for Jazzy Nola went out on Feb. 2 and included a video. The second release for Orleans Grapevine went out on Feb. 9 and included a photo. The third release for Glam 504 went out on Feb. 23 and didn't include multimedia. The target audiences for all three press releases were more than 1 million tourists and 5,000 media members who were converging on New Orleans for two major events -- the "Big Game" and Mardi Gras.

By April 1, the first press release with a video had 5,059 release views and 230 link clicks, according to Business Wire's NewsTrak Reports. The video, which was uploaded to YouTube, also had 69 views. The second release with a photo had 3,406 release views and 181 link clicks. The third release with no multimedia had 3,255 release views and 169 link clicks. So, the release with a video had 55.4% more release views and 36.1% more link clicks and the release with a photo had 4.6% more release views and 7.1% more link clicks than the release with no multimedia. Together, the three releases had 11,720 release views and 580 link clicks.

SEO-PR used the Google Analytics URL Builder to tag the links in the three releases. This here are the findings enabled the team to see that visitors from press releases visited an average of 3.12 pages per visit and spent an average of 2 minutes and 16 seconds for the duration of a visit. It also enabled the team to see that 72% of the visits from the releases were new, compared the site average of 42%. also saw an 85% increase in referral traffic in February over January. This came from websites like Yahoo! Finance and Reuters, which carried the releases, as well as social media like Facebook, Google+, and Pinterest. also saw a 407% increase in organic search traffic in February over January. It's also worth noting that the number of unique visitors to on weekends doubled in February over January.

Pat Hall, CEO of Get City Dealz, said, "Get City Dealz is honored to receive this recognition from the US Search Awards. We are passionate about enabling small businesses to grow and what better place to start than in New Orleans, where the community rallied together after Katrina to rebuild a vibrant business community."

Greg Jarboe, President and co-founder of SEO-PR, added, "We traditionally distribute press releases on weekdays because we are trying to reach the press. But the target audiences for all three of these press releases were the more than 1 million tourists and 5,000 media members who were converging on New Orleans for two major events. These audiences were looking for places to go and story ideas on weekends."

Laura Sturaitis, Executive Vice President of Media Services & Product Strategy at Business Wire, concluded, "We don't just talk about the power of a well optimized press release sent on Business Wire's global network, we feel it is important to partner with thought leaders such as SEO-PR to really test these concepts. This way we can advise our clients on the best way to leverage our network to reach audiences with their content and accomplish their communication campaign goals."

What Is Forced Ranking? - CBS News

Posted by PattonPUzU7SLu on May 15, 2014 at 9:41 AM Comments comments (1)
Managers rank workers into three categories: The top 20 percent are the "A" players, the people who will lead the future of the company. People refer to it as their "talent management process" or "leadership assessment procedure."

Last Updated May 1, 2008 5:35 PM EDT

Although most large organizations refuse to publicly discuss or even confirm whether they're using some form of forced ranking, as many as one-third of Fortune 500 companies use such systems, says Dick Grote, author of "Forced Ranking: Making Performance Management Work." Forced ranking first gained attention at General Electric in the 1980s. The bottom 10 percent are the "C" players, who contribute the least and may be meeting expectations but are simply "good" on a team of "greats." They're given no raises or bonuses and are either offered training, asked if they'd be happier elsewhere, or fired.

Ford Motor Co.: The car manufacturer employed forced ranking until 2001, when Bill Ford took over as CEO. But sometimes a company culture can shift due to forced ranking, creating a more competitive atmosphere and decreasing morale.

General Electric: The most famous practitioner of forced ranking in the 1980s and 1990s. About 40 percent of "C" players voluntarily resign, which is often a happy outcome for managers, who can then hire better-quality replacements.

Book: "Hard Facts, Dangerous Half-Truths and Total Nonsense: Profiting from Evidence-Based Management" by Jeffrey Pfeffer & Robert I. Former CEO Jack Welch suggests that forced ranking helped grow GE's revenues to $130 billion in 2000 from $70 billion in 1995.

If you're in the market for a new job, spend some time researching which companies in your industry use forced ranking. Managers rank employees from top to bottom and award bonuses and raises accordingly.

Why It Matters to You

By identifying their top employees, companies can jolt managers out of complacency, combat artificially inflated performance ratings, and reduce favoritism, nepotism, and promotions that may be based on factors other than performance. Replacing lower-rung employees each year can also be costly and can lower productivity in the early months of adoption. If your workplace is one of these--and if the company is in trouble and looking for solutions--forced ranking could be in your future. They're given raises, stock options, and training.

Critics also claim the system creates a competitive environment that can result in cutthroat, unethical behavior; limit risk-taking, creativity, and teamwork; and discourage workers from asking for help or extra training out of fear that they'll be identified as low performers. Sutton

Blog: Compensation Force

Companies can inevitably make mistakes using forced ranking, firing someone who might go on to be a super star elsewhere or discouraging excellent performers by ranking them as mediocre simply to fill a quota. In theory, each ranking will improve the quality of the workforce. The long-run impact should ideally be increased productivity, profitability, and shareholder value. Forced ranking also provides a justifiable way to identify and lose workers who may be holding the business back. The practice lost its glimmer in recent years following Enron's downfall, which has been attributed in part to back-biting spurred by forced rankings. Ford settled a lawsuit for $10.6 million that year when fired employees alleged age discrimination.

Forced distribution: An appraisal that does not compare people against each other but gives employees ratings such as "excellent," "good," or "needs improvement." A set number or percentage of workers must fall into each category.

Book: "Jack: Straight from the Gut" by Jack Welch

Motorola: The phone maker relied on forced ranking between 2001 and 2003 but has since discontinued using the management system.

Forced ranking is a controversial workforce management tool that uses intense yearly evaluations to identify a company's best and worst performing employees, using person-to-person comparisons. The strategy has also resulted in legal troubles for such companies as Microsoft, Ford, Goodyear, 3M, and Capital One, which have fought discrimination lawsuits filed by former employees who claimed forced ranking was used to discriminate on the basis of race or age.

Forced ranking tends to be popular with large corporations that have hundreds or thousands of employees and need to systematize their HR processes. Managers can identify top performers--the people they least want to lose--and reward, keep, and train them to be future leaders of the business. But with unemployment at its lowest level since the 1990s, the talent war has heated up again, making it more important to identify top performers, since they're being more heavily recruited.

The leadership coaching Weak Spots

The Strong Points

Key Players

? 2007 CBS Interactive Inc.. New data, including a study by Drake University professor Steve Scullen, shows that forced ranking loses its effectiveness after a couple of years, since the average quality of workers increases and there are fewer "C" players to identify.

Despite widespread usage, most executives and human resources officials won't use the term "forced ranking" to refer to their own process because the phrase itself seems harsh. Some firms will not openly offer this information to potential employees.

Relative comparison: An appraisal that compares employees against each other, forcing some to be rated above others, such as, "How did Joe do compared to Sally and Bob?"

Absolute comparison: A conventional performance appraisal, such as, "How good did Joe do against the responsibilities and goals set at the beginning of the year?"

How to Talk About It

Yahoo! The Internet company created its own version of forced ranking, called "stack-ranking," to determine how compensation increases are distributed. The middle 70 percent are the "B" players, steady-eddies who are given smaller raises and encouraged to improve

Handling Functionality: What Would Socrates Do?

Managing Functionality: What Would Socrates Do?

The Worth of Performance Direction

Many companies start the procedure for evaluating how well workers performed against anticipations, as we turn the corner and head into the final months of 2011. For some, it's an institutional ritual that must be done to meet a deadline in the HR calendar. For the others, it is an chance to improve the effectiveness of human capital and guide further development. Managing operation is an essential direction area - ensuring workers understand the company's scheme, how job duties link to special targets and ascertaining the extent to which efforts translated into quantifiable effects. Performance administration systems undertake several kinds, from freestyle stories and check the box competence lists to more sophisticated MBO processes. Regardless of how it's done, the purpose of any efficiency management program is to optimize individual performance in the pursuance of company goals. In essence, great performance direction is a set of interactions that transcend the particular procedures used.

Learning from the Best

Most of us remember Socrates (and his student, Plato) as essential reading in philosophy class. In modern times, and outside of the academic setting, Socrates has a great deal to educate us about uncovering the reality through logic, introspection and constructive dialogue. Not surprisingly, these happen to be essential elements of successful performance management. Socrates applied Internal Engagement a technique known as the Socratic Approach - a sort of questioning that attracts learning from within. He enhanced the quality of thinking in others through sensible reasoning and insight, and in the process, led people to the truth without telling them. This is what a great trainer does - helps you reach your potentiality by further developing the capabilities that already exist. Human performance is a function of conscience thought and activity, where thinking drives behavior and behavior drives results.

Comprehending the Approach

Too often, performance management discussions are limited to reviewing outcomes, tasks and the rationale for differences to plan. What we desire to reach is an open conversation that supports unrestricted interest, beneficial feedback, challenging assumptions, and probing concerns. These are typical behaviors presented in a true learning organization.

We must focus on the performance of the person, if we want to enhance the performance of the organization.

Implementing the Method

The 4 categories of questions listed below provide a forum for productive exchange in researching behaviour, thinking and effects; these questions can be modified to fit a given set of states. The significant point to remember is that questions like these should be applied in regular discussions to: challenge premise and beliefs, increase perspective and comprehension, develop concepts and evaluate results:

Gaining Comprehension & Perspective

What is causing this to happen?
How did you come to this conclusion?
Give me an example to illustrate your purpose
What other viewpoints did you consider
Are there any unanswered questions at this point?
Has this occured before?
Why is this needed?
Tell me more about.....?
Challenging Beliefs & Assumptions

Are there other explanations for what occured?
What observations support your beliefs?
How much is logic and how much is emotion?
Are you speculating or do you understand?
Given your beliefs, what would occur if....?
What occurs if your assumptions are incorrect?
Developing Notions

Have we ever considered this approach before?
How does your notion fit into the strategy?
Are there any hazards or unknowns that should be evaluated?
What are the thoughts and reactions of other stakeholders?
What do we already know about this issue?
If fully implemented what would this look like?
Need degree of assurance do you have in.....?
What questions do we need to inquire?
Assessing Results

Is this how you expected it to turn out?
What would you do differently next time?
What can we learn from this?
What were the intended and unintentional results?
How does this consequence impact ....?
What is the importance of...?
Who needs to know about this?
Closing Ideas

An organization develops and grows at the same speed as its workers. One means to quicken development is through a more effective performance management procedure. Performance management is a critical activity that should take place every day of the week through continuous and constructive dialogue. Workers at all levels can improve the quality of their thinking by asking the right questions and drawing out the possibility in others.
